SchoolHouse matches you with an outstanding teacher for at-home education and childcare.

Mia's Story

“Our microschool was up and running in 2 weeks, it was that fast. Once we had the 3 families ready, we reached out to the SchoolHouse team and they found an incredible teacher, a great curriculum and a location. Before I knew it my kids were learning with their friends again.”

Not a homeschool, a real school that's yours

The microschool is the reinvention of the one-room schoolhouse, where class sizes are small groups of 5-8 students and there are mixed-age level groupings. Here, at SchoolHouse, we take the work out of providing your child with the best education. We will work with you to match you with the best and brightest educator in your area. Once a match has been made we can register your microschool with your state to ensure compliance and we can even provide a written transcript for your child.

World-Class Teachers

We believe that the teacher is the most important part of any education. Which is why we are selective in the hiring process and only the best candidate is offered to your family.

When searching for an educator we look for:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience
  • An advanced degree
  • Elite schooling
  • Amazing recommendations from colleagues and former students

Once approved, teachers and families go through a matching process that ensures the teacher is appropriate for the family. This process involves video conferences and a detailed review of each teacher's curriculum vitae and resume.

Our vetting process is designed to ensure that your educator is the best and brightest in their field and is the best fit for your family.

Convenient Locations

The best thing about microschools are their location... Classes can be held at your house, in your backyard, or in a storefront property. Your SchoolHouse counselor can even help you find a location that fits your family!

Personalized Curriculum

At SchoolHouse we customize your microschool to fit your needs.

We provide support for every type of curriculum and certified learning method. We work with families to help them find what best suits them.

We can work with the students current school curriculum and teach to that or we can find an alternative curriculum and teach to that (a Montessori approach, project-based learning, or STEM).

It's your school - It should work for you.

What parents have to say about us...

quotation marks for student/teacher reviews

The thing that my son loves most about the micro-school is being around his peers and his friends and he is able to learn at his own pace. The tailored experience works, socially, educationally, and financially for us.

Mia - Larchmont, NY

Instead of paying $65,000 for Windward and getting a class of 70, I get a specialized education that is focused on my child. The class has only five students and the teacher we're working with is irreplaceable, and it wasn't that expensive!

Susie - NYC

As we're looking towards middle school in our districts we were worried of being in a larger school and our son has learning disabilities, and this was a far better option for us. He's working every day with a great teacher who knows him and other students who are like him. They are his best friends now and I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

Marisa - Boston Area

At first, I was skeptical. How can one person teach all these kids at the same time? They're different ages, have different learning curves, and are at different stages of their life. But the combination of online and in-person teaching with small classrooms works, and I've begun to understand the value of the one-room schoolhouse.
