Curriculum

ELA

Journaling and Writers Workshop, Basal Reading Programs such as Wonders and Treasures. Fontas and Pinnell, Novels and Literature Groups

I have delivered English Language Arts, Math and Content curriculums generated by the state as well as generated my own curriculums over the years based on a school developed framework. Here are some of the curriculums I have drawn from in different subject areas. This includes curriculum such as journaling and Writers Workshop, Basal Reading Programs such as Wonders and Treasures, Fontas and Pinnell, and Novels and Literature Groups.

Social studies

Immersive Field Trips. U.S. History Texts, World Cultures Texts, Learning about our state.

I teach in a cross curricular fashion which often combines elements of science and social studies as we dig more into our state and United States history. This includes immersive field trips, U.S. History Texts, World Cultures Texts, and learning about our state.

Math

The math program is rooted in problem solving, with a focus on real life application, and a conceptual based approach that builds on concrete number sense before it evolves into abstract skills. This includes curriculum such as IXL, Eureka Math, and Beast Academy.

Science

The science program is rooted in hands-on activities and student inquiry which ties into cross-curricular areas such as social studies and informational reading. This includes curriculum such as Mystery Science, National Science Standards, and Environmental Science Framework.

About
Dark blue arrow pointing to the left

I graduated from Virginia Tech in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree, majoring in Business Management. I began a career in hospitality at Marriott but found that I enjoyed the teaching and training aspect of the job the most.  As a result, in 2010, I went back to school to earn my Masters Degree in Elementary Education at UMBCs. My teaching experience includes 2nd, 4th, 5th, and middle school grades in a Catholic, public, and microschool system.
