
Laura has spent her career in various roles in education starting off as a classroom teacher through New York City's Teaching Fellows. While living in the Bay Area she worked in an elementary school and she became a certified educational therapist. She returned to New York City to teach middle school math while pursuing advanced degrees in both school administration and special education administration. She has worked with students and their families in one-on-one settings; taught future teachers at Hunter College, and coached schools to improve teaching practices for both ELA and Math.

Matt has extensive experience working in the corporate learning space with leadership roles at several ed-tech startups including Skillshare, eLearning Mind, Hickory Training and Pathgather (acquired by Degreed.) Before working in corporate learning Matt was an early employee at ZocDoc and also worked in finance.

Jacob is the former founder and CEO of Coney Island prep. He developed a plan for and opened the school with 90 fifth-grade students in 2009. Led school expansion to current 1,000 students across grades K-12. Oversaw 170+ staff members and $21 million budget covering all aspects of organization finances, operations, talent, fundraising, and programming.

Brian is a former teacher turned educational technologist who is obsessed with ensuring quality and improving learning outcomes for students. He started his career as a science and technology teacher at the Harlem Children’s Zone, then worked as an educational researcher and has spent the last 10 years building a dozen different learning apps and over 50 educational programs for schools, universities and the enterprise.

Joe is a former teacher turned lawyer who loves helping great educators start schools. He started his career as a teacher at KIPP and Rocketship Education before working as legal counsel for school organizations and companies, including Match Education, AltSchool, Notre Dame Ace Academies and Primer. His passion for helping great teachers broaden their reach is the foundation of School in a Box.
